Title: "Therefore..."
Price: (contact Pegge Hopper Gallery) Charity: Kokua Hawaii Foundation
Artist's Statement:
“ Hawai'i residents generate an whopping average of 6.2 pounds of 'opala
(trash) daily. That's 41% more than the national average (4.4 pounds).
This wastefulness is compounded by lack of recycling, with more than
2/3 of our waste being landfilled or incinerated. Honolulu is the largest
city in the nation without a curbside recycling program. Oahu's main
landfill, Waimanalo Gulch, will be closed by May 2008. The landfill
may then move someplace else. Perhaps to your community.”
